BSUS Speaker Series: Neurology vs. Neurosurgery Speaker Panel
What we learned: Conducted a case study of an infant that presents with seizures. Learned about the different ways of testing and scanning for seizures, and how to treat them. Learned how to read an EEG. A Hemispherectomy is a surgical procedure done on the brain to help stop seizures and epilepsy. Hemispherectomies are mainly done on younger kids since they have higher brain plasticity.

BSUS Surgeon Series: Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
What we learned: It's important to take time for yourself to cope with the uncertainties of the medical path. OB/GYN pathway includes 4 year residency, working in inpatient, surgical, and outpatient care, and treating pregnant and non-pregnant patients. There are many different fellowships within OB/GYN. Conducted a case study of an ectopic pregnancy, including how to diagnose and treat a patient with an ectopic pregnancy. Learned about female reproductive anatomy. OB/GYN's conduct surgery with both laparoscopic and robotic tools.

BSUS Surgeon Series: Urologic Surgery
What did we learn from Dr. Moradzadeh? Urology is on the forefront of technological advancements in medicine! It's important to keep a balance between working in the medical field and living your life. Work hard little by little everyday in order to achieve your goal of a career in medicine. Get involved with research and volunteering early on.
